So, what does it take to do digital marketing?
A device that connects to the internet, an internet connection and your own wish to become a Digital Marketer.
On top of that, I have discovered is that it requires persistence, time, personal development and some money. That´s at least what it takes in my case. Fortunately, I was prepared for it as my mentors told me this already from the beginning.
But if I think about it, it´s not any bigger difference from starting any other new job, right? In that case, you will need to adapt yourself to your new colleagues or new environment. Which requires you to push yourself out of your comfort zone. In other words, personal development. You will have to invest some extra time into your new job to learn it as quickly as possible and you will need to be persistent.
If you start a traditional company you will have to invest a lot of money into it and hopefully be able to break even in a couple of years. If you don´t have the money yourself you will be living on loaned money.
I feel there is a level of security to be able to start a business alongside with your ordinary job. You know that you will have your paychecks dropping in every month and you can adjust your “startup budget” accordingly.
Remember, I am doing this to free up time in the future. To be able to do my job, whether I’m in Sweden, the UK, the US or Thailand. To be able to support my son through life and be there when he needs me. I put in this time and am now working to be able to work less and in a different way in the future. Knowing that I am not directly affected by AI completely automates industries and other types of work where the human workforce will become obsolete in the future. I love progress, but it also means that I try to keep up with the progress around the world and I see that AI will change the world whether you like it or not.
What do you think? I really like to discuss this with you if you want to. Post a comment and let´s see where the discussion takes us.
